The Yorkshire Imperial Band are proud to be part of the Durham Miners' Gala, one of the largest and most iconic trade union events in Europe. Held annually in the city of Durham, the Gala — affectionately known as "The Big Meeting" — brings together brass bands, colourful banners, and communities from across the North of England for a day of celebration, solidarity, and tradition.
The band will march through the historic streets of Durham alongside lodge banners, performing stirring marches as crowds line the route towards the Old Racecourse. The atmosphere is truly something special, with thousands of spectators cheering on each band as they pass the County Hotel balcony and cross Elvet Bridge.
Whether you're a regular at the Gala or planning your first visit, come along and enjoy a fantastic day out in one of England's most beautiful cathedral cities. The Durham Miners' Gala is a wonderful showcase of brass band music at its most vibrant, and a celebration of the deep connection between brass bands and the communities they represent.
