Gala Christmas Concert – Carols for a Choral Future
The Yorkshire Imperial Urquhart Travel Band is set to perform the Gala Christmas Concert – Carols for a Choral Future – at Leeds Parish Church on Wednesday 10th December 2008.
First taking place in 1999, (and becoming something of a tradition at this time of year signalling the start of the Christmas season for the local community) the concert is in aid of the Leeds Parish Church Choral Foundation Appeal supporting Emmaus Leeds, a special employment and housing project and the Yorkshire Imperial Urquhart Travel Band has appeared at every concert.
The band will be alongside the Choir of Leeds Parish Church, Leeds Parish Church Festival Choir, St Peter’s Singers and Leeds College of Music Choral Society with organist David Houlder, all under the expert direction of the energetic Dr Simon Lindley.
One thing for certain is that an evening of top choral as well as brass music is guaranteed. The programme comprises contemporary and traditional Christmas music as well as many traditional Christmas carols for all to sing. Anyone knowing Dr Simon Lindley will know he is a stickler for audience participation at these concerts and you cannot help yourself but join in the fun.
The Imps, immaculately donned in their black and red uniforms with gold braid immediately surrounded by the gowned choristers of Leeds Parish Church with the ranks of the massed choir of Leeds College of Music Choral Society behind …… the scene is set for a spectacular evening to get you in the Christmas spirit! One not to miss!
The concert starts at 7pm, tickets are available from 0113 2588446 or on the door.
